Destinys Golden Gun - Why I Thought It Was Worth A Look

Destiny's Golden Gun - Why I Thought It Was Worth A LookDestiny's Golden Gun is one of the latest games to grace Nintendo DS. Developed by Treasure, the studio that produced Conker's Bad Fur Day, the game is available only on the Nintendo DS. And since I have a copy I figured I'd share some thoughts about it with you.The main attractions here are the controls. The new movement abilities, the secondary guns, and the dual playing modes of survival and competition. On the whole I found these aspects to be well thought out and added to the level of challenge. My only gripes were those of design, which have been addressed by a patch for this review. The control scheme is very much an isometric view. It's really easy to get confused about which buttons to press as you rotate around the screen. But I did like that I could rotate in any direction the way I wanted and without making the game too difficult, which I didn't find. This game also features a brand new feature, the mini-games. I haven 't played any of these games yet, but if they're as fun as the hunting and shooting challenges, then they'll get my vote for game of the year. They add a bit of variety, while adding a level of difficulty to the experience. What's more, if you don't enjoy the shooting challenge, you can play them in third person.Once you've done that, you then go into survival mode where you have your own goals to complete, and an agenda for survival. You do have the ability to customize your character and there are also plenty of health kits to replenish your precious supplies. There's also a competitive multiplayer mode that will add to the enjoyment of the game. It's a version of the game where the other players are robots from Destiny.Overall I think Destiny's Golden Gun is a strong entry in the first DSI game. I'm hoping that future DSI games will develop a similar progression of abilities and content to Destiny. It seems as though Treasure wants to make this game a good all round package.
